I've am fortunate to be part of a diabetes innovation community that spans both online and offline. This population of patients, advocates, hackers, and designers is constantly challenging industry norms to advance the diabetes patient experience and management tool belt. Howard Look, dad of a Type 1 diabetic daughter and CEO of Tidepool, coined this patient-led industry shift the "We Are Not Waiting Movement". Tidepool is a platform and ecosystem of apps and tools that help people with Type 1 diabetes.
During the development of one of their apps – blip – I worked in support of Tidepool's interaction design lead, Sara Krugman, on UX design, information architecture, content clarification and prioritization.
